Things I'm passionate about:
Here are a few random things about me and my life thus far:
Love to travel and learn about other cultures; I've been to a few countries but there are so many more that I want to experience; not just visit as a tourist, but truly, authentically experience. ~ Am fascinated by Miami culture and all of South Florida -- I've been here 5+ years and feel like I've just begun to explore everything. ~ Since I've lived most of my life in Florida, my notion of seasons consists of hot summer -- and cool summer -- spring, fall, and winter have no meaning to me. ~ Recently took a photo of my parents holding hands, still in love, looking out over Biscayne Bay and it was one of my coolest days with them in the last 15 or so years. I'll remember it for life. ~ My parents are still married after 40+ years and I marvel at the tender love they still have for each other. And that they still put up with each other. ~ Love the Wynwood Art Walk and wandering into random galleries in exploration of expression. ~ In some areas of life, I'm driven, direct and purposeful ... and in others I'm silly, frivolous and playful. ~ Love learning more about communication, language, listening and expression. ~ Used to draw all the time, sometimes still draw and I miss not drawing more. ~ As much as I love reading on my tablet, I miss the feel of a real book in my hands. ~ The days are just packed. Bonus points if you catch that reference ...
Oh, and boredom about anything in this world bugs me ... I'll let one of America's foremost philosophers rant about this instead:
“I’m bored’ is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you've seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless, it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you’re alive is amazing, so you don’t get to say ‘I’m bored.”― Louis C.K.
Here are a few of my favorite things ...
Books: I have 8+ bookshelves in my home filled with books I've read ... and another few hundred on my tablet. Asking which ones I love the most is difficult ... to be continued.
Music: In no particular order, rhyme or reason, here is a sample of artists I enjoy ... David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, New World Symphony, Calvin Harris, The Dan Band, Walk Off The Earth, Godsmack, Kings of Leon, John Legend, House of Pain, Staind, Paul Oakenfold, Lady Antebellum, Journey, Alice in Chains, Johnny Cash, U2, Far East Movement, Sade, Blink-182, Nikki Sixx, LL Cool J, Justin Timberlake, P!nk, Daft Punk, Slash, Stephen Lynch, Foo Fighters, Rihanna, Robin Sparkles, Pitbull, The Offspring, Norah Jones, Sublime, Sugarland, Lenny Kravitz, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Green Day, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg.
Movies: Again, same thing, no order ... Sherlock Holmes, Idiocracy, Kill Bill Saga, The Muppets, Blade Runner, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Iron Man, Office Space, Any of The Bourne Movies, Zoolander, Watchmen, Braveheart, Equilibrium, Underworld, Van Wilder, Taken, Colombiana, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Princess Bride, The Ugly Truth, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Forrest Gump, Knocked Up, Wanted, Salt, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Anchorman, Zombieland, Inception, Shrek, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Christopher Nolan Batman Trilogy, All the Resident Evil Movies, Fight Club, The Sweetest Thing, Ultraviolet, Napoleon Dynamite and The Hangover.
Shows: Thanks to my overworked DVR, some of my faves are: Happy Endings, House of Lies, Dexter, Homeland, Game of Thrones, Shameless, Californication, Mad Men, NCIS, How I Met Your Mother, and Cougar Town. Comedies rule.
Food: Hmm, I like black ties and barbecues. Fancy food and simple food. 5 Star restaurants and sidewalk vendors. Prestigious VIP rooms and sitting on a curb munching on a sub. Suppose I am a study in contrasts -- and always game for just about any type of food. I love spicy food. I love sweet stuff. Italian, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Caribbean? Yes, please. One exception -- I keep trying to like seafood, but it won't take. I love buying sushi I can't eat -- I always order chicken teriyaki instead while my dinner companion enjoys cool looking rolls. Oh, and food trucks are awesome.
